Zion Suzuki starts for Japan in World Cup opener against Netherlands

Zion Suzuki is starting for Japan in their World Cup opener against the Netherlands today at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. At just 23 years old, Suzuki has already capped over two dozen times for Japan since making his senior debut in 2022. He has been a part of the national team since the U-15 level, having been born in Newark, New Jersey, and developed his skills in the Urawa Red Diamonds academy. Following a transfer to Serie A side Parma in 2024, Suzuki is expected to be a key player throughout the tournament.
