Zoe Backstedt of Great Britain earned silver in the women's time trial at the UCI World Road Championships in Montreal, finishing 40.11 seconds behind gold medalist Marlen Reusser of Switzerland. Backstedt, at 21 years old, moved up from competing in the under-23 division, where she had success last year. She set an impressive time that bested Germany's Franziska Koch, who took third place. Reusser, who started last, overcame an early deficit to secure her second consecutive time-trial gold. The course presented challenges with windy conditions and technical sections, yet Backstedt's performance adds to Great Britain's medal history in this discipline.
