Zoe Backstedt wins British elite women's road race in Aberystwyth

Zoe Backstedt captured the British elite women's road race title in Aberystwyth on June 28, completing a double victory after winning the time trial three days earlier. Backstedt, 21, overtook Josie Knight, finishing 1 minute and 42 seconds ahead. The Welsh rider became the first British woman to achieve this double since Alice Wood in 2019. Knight initially led the race before Backstedt and her teammates closed the gap, culminating in a decisive solo effort by Backstedt with 14km remaining. The men's elite and under-23 races are scheduled for later on Sunday afternoon.
