Zoie Lucchese leads Elkhart flag football with record-setting play

Junior quarterback Zoie Lucchese has become a centerpiece for the Elkhart High School flag football team. Despite her 5-foot-3 frame, Lucchese has utilized high football IQ and passing ability to guide the Lions' offense. On August 26, she set a school record with 240 passing yards and four touchdowns during a 34-6 win against South Bend Adams. She has accumulated 349 yards and four touchdowns through the air this season, building on a sophomore campaign that saw her record 1,739 passing yards and 25 touchdowns. Beyond her duties as a quarterback, Lucchese also contributes to the team’s secondary when needed and maintains a role as a multi-sport athlete in basketball. Head coach Stephanie Elam cites Lucchese’s command of the game and ability to evade defenders as primary factors in her success.
