Zyhir Hope leads Erie to playoff berth with win over Somerset

Zyhir Hope recorded three hits and four RBIs to help Double-A Erie secure an 11-10 victory over Somerset on Sunday. The win clinched the Eastern League Southwest second-half title and the SeaWolves' fifth consecutive postseason appearance. Hope contributed a three-run home run during a five-run sixth inning and added an RBI single in the seventh to help establish an 11-5 lead. Although Somerset responded with five runs in the eighth, Erie held the lead to finalize the win. Acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the trade for Tarik Skubal, Hope has now reached 28 home runs during the 2026 season. Ranked as the second-best prospect in the Detroit Tigers organization, he is currently projected to reach the Major Leagues in 2027.
