49ers place running back Isaac Guerendo on reserve PUP list

The San Francisco 49ers placed running back Isaac Guerendo on the reserve/physically unable to perform list on Sunday. Guerendo, who suffered a torn pectoral muscle while lifting weights in late May, underwent surgery and spent the duration of training camp on the active/PUP list. The designation requires the 2024 draft pick to miss at least the first four games of the 2026 NFL season. Because he is on the reserve list, he does not count against the team’s 53-man roster limit during his recovery. Before the injury, Guerendo competed for a roster spot behind Christian McCaffrey, Jordan James, and Kaelon Black. He will be eligible to return to the active roster starting in Week 5 if he is deemed healthy enough by the medical staff and the team elects to activate him.
