49ers release linebacker Deion Jones following recent trade from Saints

The San Francisco 49ers released veteran linebacker Deion Jones on August 30, 2026. The move follows a recent trade that sent Jones from the New Orleans Saints to San Francisco in exchange for running back Zamir White. Jones, a second-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, previously played for the Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had joined the Saints earlier this August. Over his career, Jones has appeared in 128 regular-season games with 91 starts.
