Abington defeats Longmeadow 43-21 in season-opening football game

Abington opened its 2026 football season with a 43-21 home victory over Longmeadow on Thursday, Sept. 10, at Frolio Memorial Field. The Green Wave utilized a ground attack that accumulated 260 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. A pivotal defensive stop occurred with 9:20 remaining in the game when Abington prevented a Longmeadow score on a fourth-and-goal situation from the 1-yard line. Following that turnover on downs, Abington marched 91 yards to finalize the scoring with a 15-yard run by Jake Lehman. Junior Daniel Pifer led Abington with 103 total offensive yards and two touchdowns, while Nazir Paulding added a 55-yard punt return for a score. This matchup marked the first game of the season for both programs.
