AEW Dynamite airs tonight (June 3) with a live show from Siegel Center in Richmond, Virginia. This is the second episode of Dynamite during the five week build to Forbidden Door, which takes place on June 28. AEW’s MYSTERY star might be coming in with a huge push Tony Khan potentially has a big surprise in store for tonight’s Dynamite when a Wild Card entry is revealed in the women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament to take on NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Alex Windsor in the opening round. The need for a mystery entrant came about after Willow Nightingale was pulled from the tournament due to injury. The winner of the tournament earns a world title match in Wembley Stadium at All In, which is AEW’s biggest event of the year. Willow looked like the favorite to win, but it’s a lot less clear who will get that kind of a push in her absence. The field now includes Hazuki, CMLL World Women’s Champion Persephone, Sareee, Skye Blue, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena, Windsor, and Wild Card. The door is wide open for Khan to bring in a mystery star who could actually win the tournament and get the championship chase for All In. Mercedes Mone is the obvious name that comes to mind, although it’s worth wondering if Khan has a different plan for her AEW return given that she somehow wasn’t part of the original bracket for the Owen. Britt Baker is another name who will always be speculated about in situations like this, but there are just so many question marks surrounding her future with AEW. The thing is, tonight’s Wild Card is far from a lock to beat Windsor, who could play the role of the local hero if she challenges for the AEW women’s world title at All In London. The possibilities are all over the place, in terms of how Wild Card will fare in the Owen Hart Tournament. The men’s Owen Hart Tournament continues tonight with a second round match between Will Ospreay and AEW National Champion Mark Davis. Ospreay is looking for revenge after Davis beat him to the point of winning by referee stoppage back in April. Can Ospreay’s vulnerable neck now withstand Mark’s piledrivers, thanks to his training with Jon Moxley and the Death Riders? Other stuff to keep an eye on – Speaking of the Death Riders, they fought alongside AEW World Trios Champions The Conglomeration and AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita in a post-match segment on Collision to run off the Don Callis Family and Shane Taylor Promotions. Will this multi-faction war continue tonight, or was it just a one-off alliance of convenience? – There will be a Survival of the Fittest match on the July 1 episode of Dynamite to crown a new TBS champion, after the belt was vacated by Nightingale due to injury. The six participants will be determined over the course of six different matches this month. Will AEW reveal the schedule of these qualifying matches tonight, or at least announce some specific stars who will be participating?
