Alabama football lands four-star recruit Nigel Newkirk from Georgia

Alabama football has gained a commitment from four-star running back Nigel Newkirk of Gainesville, Georgia, as announced on May 31. Newkirk, listed at 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds, chose Alabama over finalists including Ohio State and LSU. He is the seventh commitment for Alabama's 2027 recruiting class and the first running back. Newkirk visited Alabama over the weekend, and Rivals ranks him as the No. 89 overall prospect in its 2027 class. He joins other notable recruits, including five-star quarterback Elijah Haven and four-star quarterback Trent Seaborn.
