Alabama freshman Jireh Edwards returns from injury in win over Kentucky

Alabama defensive back Jireh Edwards returned to action on Saturday, September 12, helping the Crimson Tide secure a 45-17 victory over Kentucky. The freshman safety appeared in his first career game just 19 days after undergoing surgery for a broken arm sustained during fall camp. Edwards recorded a tackle for a 6-yard loss against Kentucky running back CJ Baxter on the first play of the fourth quarter. Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer praised the safety’s physical and mental toughness during his recovery period. While Bray Hubbard and Keon Sabb remain the team's primary starters, defensive coordinator Kane Wommack continues to integrate reserves into the secondary rotation.
