Albany State defeats Savannah State in home opener
Summary

Albany State secured a 49-17 victory over Savannah State in the Tigers' home opener at Wright Stadium on Saturday. Although the Savannah State defense held Albany State scoreless for much of the first half, the team entered halftime trailing 14-0 following a series of offensive struggles. The Tigers began the game with six consecutive punts before making a quarterback change in the second half. Sophomore Rashawn Truell entered the game and completed nine passes for 171 yards, including two touchdowns and an interception. Head coach Thomas Howard indicated that Truell earned more playing time moving forward based on his late-game performance.
