Alessio Romagnoli departs Lazio to complete transfer to Al-Sadd

Defender Alessio Romagnoli is traveling to Qatar to finalize a transfer to Al-Sadd ahead of the league's deadline. The 32-year-old admitted he intended to remain at Lazio for the rest of his career, citing a desire to stay with the club he supported throughout his life. Negotiations regarding his departure were ongoing for months after two previous attempts to move to the Qatari club failed earlier this year. Romagnoli stated that his relationship with club president Claudio Lotito became strained following unfulfilled salary promises related to the team's Champions League qualification in 2023. Despite the exit, he expressed appreciation for his teammates and coach Gennaro Gattuso. Romagnoli indicated that he intends to return to the stadium as a supporter when the current situation at the club stabilizes.
