Alexander Rossi tests Dallara IR28 IndyCar chassis at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Alexander Rossi became the first driver to test the new Dallara IR28 chassis on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval on Wednesday. The Ed Carpenter Racing driver completed approximately 85% of the planned testing schedule before rain interrupted the session at 4 p.m. While Rossi noted that the car performed consistently without any major surprises, he indicated it does not feel drastically different from the current DW12 model currently used in the series. The test focused on basic mechanical and aerodynamic functionality rather than top-speed performance, with the car reaching the 215-mph range during the outing. IndyCar intends for the new chassis to eventually surpass long-standing track records when it debuts in 2028. Testing is scheduled to continue with Alex Palou, depending on weather conditions at the speedway.
