Andy Borregales adopts number 8 for second season with Patriots

He adopted his new number after it became vacant following the departure of wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Washington Commanders. Borregales stated that number 8 holds personal significance as the first number he wore in organized football at age five. The kicker enters the upcoming season after a mixed preseason performance that included three missed field goals in an exhibition against the Indianapolis Colts. Despite those misses, Patriots special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer confirmed that the coaching staff retains confidence in Borregales as the team heads into the season opener.
