With 81 days until the Arizona Cardinals' regular-season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 13, attention turns to the 1981 season. That year marked quarterback Neil Lomax's rookie season, where he led the team to a late four-game winning streak, though they finished with a 7-9 record. Offensive leaders included Jim Hart, who threw for 1,694 yards, and Ottis Anderson, who rushed for 1,376 yards. The defense featured significant performances from safety Ken Greene and Hall of Fame cornerback Roger Wehrli. As the opening game approaches, reflections on past seasons enrich the team's history.
