Arsenal defeats Chelsea as Alonso addresses concerns regarding Moises Caicedo

Arsenal defeated Chelsea 2-1 on September 6, 2026, in an English Premier League match. Chelsea opened the scoring before Arsenal rallied to secure the result. Following the game, Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso cited concerns regarding midfield control and the availability of Moises Caicedo. Caicedo previously returned from an injury layoff but was substituted after 11 minutes of play last week due to recurring discomfort. Alonso indicated that the club may have rushed his return to the pitch and stated he does not want to repeat the mistake by accelerating his recovery timeline. Chelsea struggled to maintain possession in the midfield during the loss, leaving the team with limited tactical options as the club assesses how to proceed with the injured midfielder.
