Athena discusses the professional development of AEW rookie Maya World

Summary

ROH Women's World Champion Athena evaluated the career progression of AEW performer Maya World during a recent interview. Since making her debut in 2023, World advanced from an early proving ground match against Athena to securing a 35-day reign as TBS Champion. Following an injury to Sareee, World also reached the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Cup. Athena, who mentored World on the independent circuit, characterized the younger wrestler's growth as significant, highlighting her transition to major platforms like Wembley. Despite the professional mentorship, Athena noted that the two maintain a strained relationship, citing a lack of personal acknowledgment from World. Athena remains a central figure in the ROH women's division while continuing to observe the trajectory of her former trainee's AEW career.
