AuSable River Marathon showcases tradition with 106 teams racing 120 miles

The 78th AuSable River Canoe Marathon took place on July 25 in Grayling, Michigan, featuring 106 teams competing in a 120-mile overnight race. Participants faced a challenging route as they paddled from Grayling to Oscoda, with many spectators cheering them along the way. The marathon is recognized as part of the Triple Crown of Canoe Racing and continues a nearly 80-year tradition in the region. Overall winners Travis Mecklenburg and Logan Mynar completed the race in 14 hours, 20 minutes, and 37 seconds. The event included mixed and women's division winners, with times ranging from over 14 hours to nearly 19 hours for the finishing teams.
