GolfAva Cepeda shot a 67 in windy conditions to claim medalist honors in the qualifying round of the 117th Manoa Cup at Oahu Country Club on June 23. The Kahuku sophomore's performance helped her top a field of 89 competitors, including fellow contender and ‘Iolani alum Jasmine Wong, who scored a 68. Cepeda, who has been a medalist before, is set to face Varnika Ancheta in the first round match play this afternoon. In men's qualifying, Spencer Shishido and Drew Tom both posted scores of 68, with Shishido earning the top seed after the first round. The tournament will continue narrowing the field leading to the finals later in the week.
