Awesome Kong recounts WWE signing after years of industry doubt

Kia Stevens, known in the ring as Awesome Kong and Kharma, recently detailed her transition to WWE in 2011. Following her departure from TNA Wrestling, she intended to pursue independent bookings before contacting the promotion. Instead, WWE officials reached out directly after reviewing her previous match footage. Stevens bypassed developmental territories to debut on the main roster, despite hearing years of skepticism from peers who claimed she would never be hired by the company. Her stint with the promotion included an appearance in the 2012 Men’s Royal Rumble and active feuds with Michelle McCool and Eve Torres before her departure in 2012. Now 49 and retired, Stevens noted that she is open to a potential return to the ring.
