BBC moves Women's Super League highlights to digital platforms

BBC Sport is discontinuing its weekly television program, The Women's Football Show, for the upcoming Women's Super League season. The show, which previously aired on BBC One following an initial release on BBC iPlayer, will not return to the broadcast schedule. The broadcaster plans to shift its coverage to digital platforms to distribute match highlights. These updates will now be featured on the newly launched BBC Sport women’s football YouTube channel. The network intends to introduce a new digital chat show hosted by Alex Scott as part of this revised content strategy. Despite these changes to its traditional broadcast lineup, BBC Sport maintains it remains fully committed to the Women’s Super League.

It is understood the BBC will focus on digital platforms to showcase highlights instead, including showing them on its newly launched YouTube women’s football channel, instead of the weekly television show with a studio, presenter and pundits, which had aired previously on BBC One at 11.30pm on Sundays, after first going live on BBC iPlayer at 9pm.
