Benfica has completed the signing of midfielder Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich for a fee that could reach 19 million euros ($22 million). The deal, which includes an initial payment of 14 million euros, also features potential bonuses. Palhinha returns to Lisbon, where he began his professional career. He joined Bayern in 2024 after a stint at Fulham and won the Bundesliga with the club in 2025. Benfica has set a 50 million euro release clause in Palhinha's contract.
