Betnijah Laney-Hamilton ejected for throwing shoe during Liberty game

Betnijah Laney-Hamilton of the New York Liberty was ejected from a WNBA game against the Toronto Tempo on July 12. The incident occurred when she threw a shoe that hit Toronto guard Marina Mabrey with less than two minutes left in the game. Laney-Hamilton stated she accidentally hit Mabrey while attempting to return the shoe to her teammate Jonquel Jones. The officials issued Laney-Hamilton a second technical foul for the act, leading to her ejection. Following the incident, Toronto regained the lead and ultimately won the game 93-91.
