Big Ten implements live replay audio for Friday night football games

The Big Ten conference is providing access to live audio conversations between referees and replay officials during football games held on Fridays throughout the 2026 season. This initiative aims to increase transparency during the review process. The change follows public criticism surrounding the officiated finish of the Western Michigan-Michigan game, which occurred on a Thursday. While the new replay transparency measures are currently limited to Friday contests, the conference has scheduled a series of broadcasts featuring the enhanced access for the remainder of the season. Upcoming games with the audio feature include matchups such as Oregon vs. Portland State on September 18 and Rutgers vs. Howard on September 25. The conference office has not announced plans to extend this audio access to Saturday broadcasts at this time.
