Bills assistant coach Dean Marlowe shares personal history with 9/11

Buffalo Bills assistant coach Dean Marlowe reflects on his personal connection to the September 11 terrorist attacks, during which his parents served as first responders in New York City. At age nine, Marlowe was pulled from school as his stepfather, police sergeant Mike Neil, and his mother, police officer Lisa, were summoned to the World Trade Center site. The family members spent days working at the scene, an experience that Marlowe describes as a moment for his family to persevere together. After an eight-year NFL career, which included a signature interception for the Bills during the 2022 postseason, Marlowe retired following the 2024 season. He transitioned to coaching, holding a position with Oklahoma State in 2025 before returning to the Buffalo Bills staff under Joe Brady.
