Bloomington North rallies for 46-20 football victory over Martinsville

Bloomington North defeated Martinsville 46-20 on Friday, Sept. 4, at Dennis O'Martin Field after overcoming a 13-point deficit. Martinsville established an early lead, scoring 20 points during the first 22 minutes of play before the Bloomington North defense held the visiting team scoreless for the remainder of the contest. The Cougars responded with 34 unanswered points to secure the win. Freshman quarterback Fisher Pugh finished the game 15-of-20 for 254 yards and two touchdowns, while teammate Carter Matthew contributed four total touchdowns and 158 receiving yards. Martinsville quarterback Chase Davis recorded 245 total passing yards but struggled in the second half, throwing two interceptions. Bloomington North improves to a 2-1 record on the season as they prepare for upcoming games against Mooresville and Plainfield.
