Bronson Reed interferes during Sunday Night’s Main Event championship match

Some places do power rankings. Here at Cageside, we do a stock report. In this weekly series, we identify three Superstars (or groups of Superstars) who are on their way up, and three that are moving in the opposite direction. After a busy week that included the in-ring debut of Kyoki, dumb ass Baron Corbin losing the United States title after taking too long to finish Lil Yachty, and Paige throwing Nikki Bella’s failed relationship with John Cena in her face, a lot of fortunes were changed. With that in mind, let’s see whose stock decreased the most this week: Stock Down #3: Fatal Influence WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid lost a non-title match against Charlotte Flair and Tatum Paxley on SmackDown. The champs were basically tune-up opponents for Flair and Paxley to beat ahead of their more important six-woman tag team match against Jade Cargill and The Baddies at Sunday Night’s Main Event. That’s not a great spot for the relatively new tag team champs to be in. Stock Down #2: Tiffany Stratton Stratton has to be turning heel soon, right? She’s been on the losing end of six consecutive matches on SmackDown after Nia Jax pinned her on Friday night. If Tiffy Time isn’t turning heel on Chelsea Green, then it’s hard to explain all the losses outside of WWE losing complete interest in pushing her. Stock Down #1: Joe Hendry Hendry was away from WWE for a few weeks after Bron Breakker squashed him in less than two minutes on Raw in early August. Hendry returned as Je’Von Evans’ impromptu tag team partner against The Judgment Day on last week’s Raw, where Joe is the one who actually did the job and got pinned. Joe was jobbed out again in a match against Dirty Dominik Mysterio on the pre-show for Sunday Night’s Main Event. Hendry needed some good booking to help recover after his late July concert with Danhausen bombed. Instead, WWE is just digging him even deeper into the hole. Now let’s see whose stock increased the most this week: Stock Up #3: Sami Zayn & Penta WWE has some huge shows coming up in Mexico City over the next week, with Penta and Sami being chosen to challenge World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and WWE Champion CM Punk, respectively. On paper neither Penta nor Zayn look like the favorite to win these championship matches, but if WWE wants to avoid running back a WrestleMania 42 rematch between Reigns and Punk in early November at Crown Jewel, then perhaps a surprise title change is on the way. Stock Up #2: Johnny Gargano CM Punk found the right words in Cleveland to get Gargano to finally snap out of his catatonic state, after months of laying around backstage being useless in WWE. Johnny had a hell of a match with Punk and was less than one second away from winning the WWE championship at one point. I don’t know if this will suddenly lead to a big push for the return of Johnny Wrestling, but it’s a necessary step if that’s ever going to happen. Stock Up #1: Bronson Reed Sunday Night’s Main Event featured a match between Oba Femi and Bron Breakker to decide who is the future of WWE, and the answer actually turned out to be Bronson Reed. The slimmed down Reed made his surprise return to interfere and beat the hell out of Femi with a steel chair, before doing even more damage with multiple Tsunami splashes on The Ruler. Reed looked like an absolute killer and one of the few people in WWE who can go toe-to-toe with the man who kicked Brock Lesnar’s ass back into retirement. There you have it, Cagesiders.
