Buffalo Bills waive linebacker Ben VanSumeren from initial roster

The Buffalo Bills waived former Michigan State linebacker Ben VanSumeren as the team finalized its 53-man roster out of training camp. VanSumeren signed with the club during the offseason with expectations of a role on the team. He previously played for the Philadelphia Eagles for two seasons after beginning his career at Michigan and then Michigan State. VanSumeren appeared in 20 games for the Eagles but moved to the fullback position last year, a tenure that was shortened by a season-ending injury during the opening kickoff of the 2025 season. He played for Michigan State from 2021 to 2022, appearing in 24 games.
