BYU football defeats Utah Tech in 63-7 season opening win

BYU opened its 2026 football season with a 63-7 victory over Utah Tech on Saturday at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The Cougars established a 42-0 lead by halftime and utilized their bench depth throughout the second half. Quarterback Bachmeier completed 16 of 20 passes for 198 yards and three touchdowns, while also adding a rushing score. The defense forced four turnovers, including an opening-play interception by Tre Alexander. Glasker contributed three total touchdowns in his debut for the program. The team now turns its attention to an upcoming Big 12 matchup against Arizona scheduled for next Saturday.
