Canadiens trade down, select Brayden Klimpke 117th overall in NHL draft

The Montreal Canadiens selected Brayden Klimpke with the 117th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. The team originally held the 103rd pick but traded down to 113th in a deal with the Los Angeles Kings and further traded with the Vegas Golden Knights to acquire the 117th and 223rd picks. Klimpke, a 6'0" defenseman, is committed to North Dakota for the upcoming NCAA season and previously recorded four goals and 42 assists for the Saskatoon Blades. The Canadiens have adjusted their draft strategy after moving pair of first-round picks for Noah Dobson in 2025, and made several trades to modify their draft positions during this year's event.
