Cardinals promote Davis and Cijntje, shuffle roster ahead of second half

The St. Louis Cardinals made significant roster moves as they approach the second half of the season. Chase Davis and Jurrangelo Cijntje were promoted to Triple-A Memphis, creating vacancies following several releases and opt-outs from the team. Bruce Zimmerman elected free agency after a strong season debut, while Scott Blewett plans to exercise his opt-out clause. Other players released include Bligh Madris, who is headed to the KBO, as well as Jeremy Rivas, Jason Savacool, and Matt Koperniak. As the signing period continues post-draft, Brody Moore has been called up to fill one of the gaps on the roster. Additionally, Brandon Clarke has begun mound work in the Florida State League after recovering from surgery for a shoulder aneurysm. Ixan Henderson is also back on the mound, looking to build on a successful 2025 season.
