Carolina Panthers players choose jersey numbers held by franchise legends

The Carolina Panthers assigned new jersey numbers to eight players following recent roster adjustments. Tight end Darren Waller opted for No. 88, the number previously worn by franchise veteran Greg Olsen. Linebacker Bobby Okereke, who joined the team recently, will wear No. 58, which was worn by former linebacker Thomas Davis. These assignments follow roster changes made after the final 53-man squad was determined over the weekend. General manager Dan Morgan stated that the coaching staff expects Waller to offer a new dimension to the team's offense. Additional players receiving new numbers include Casey Washington, Casey Bullock, TeRah Edwards, Aaron Hall, Mapalo Mwansa, and Zakee Wheatley.
