Celtic pursued Manchester United defender Harry Amass during the transfer window

Celtic identified Manchester United left-back Harry Amass as a potential transfer target during the recent summer window. The club sought defensive reinforcements after determining Marcelo Saracchi would not return to the side. While Celtic expressed interest in the 19-year-old, Manchester United ultimately kept the player because they could not secure an alternative left-back. Amass drew interest from over a dozen clubs, including Stoke City, Birmingham City, Millwall, QPR, and Burnley, the latter of which had a bid rejected. International clubs including Sporting and Wolfsburg also monitored the defender. Celtic ultimately addressed their defensive needs by signing Landon Emenalo on a season-long loan from Chelsea. The club also completed late moves for Sam Johnstone, Joel van den Berg, Jordan Lotomba, and Shim Mheuka.
