Centennial defense forces seven turnovers in victory over Mountain View

Peoria Centennial moved to 3-0 on the season with a 27-3 victory over Mesa Mountain View on Friday, Sept. 11. Safety Nate Olmos led a defensive effort that produced seven total takeaways, including a scoop-and-score touchdown in the third quarter. Despite losing tailback Damonte Drake to an ankle injury in the second half, the Centennial offense relied on Derrion Bartholomew, who added a 16-yard touchdown run. The Centennial defense held Mesa Mountain View scoreless after the visitors kicked an early field goal. Coach Andrew Taylor noted the team will review its records to determine if the seven takeaways set a new school benchmark. The win follows Centennial's previous victory over Servite, while Mesa Mountain View falls to 2-1 following a previous win over Phoenix Pinnacle.
