Charles Johnson earns submission of the month honors for August

Charles Johnson received the August Submission of the Month award from MMA Junkie for his third-round twister victory over Eduardo Chapolin at UFC 330. Johnson, who fought on short notice, secured the win in a 130-pound catchweight contest following a bout that featured a point deduction for Chapolin due to an illegal knee. The finish stood out among a month of notable submissions across UFC events. Other finalists included Robert Valentin, who defeated Dusko Todorovic, and Quillan Salkilld, who finished Mateusz Gamrot. Jeremiah Wells and Chris Padilla also earned nominations for their respective finishes of Myktybek Orolbai and Nasrat Haqparast. Following his victory, Johnson dedicated his performance to fellow flyweight Allan Nascimento, who died earlier in August.
