Charlotte Knights and Birmingham Barons fall in minor league play

The Charlotte Knights dropped an 11-4 decision to the Buffalo Bisons on September 10 after the game spiraled in the sixth and seventh innings. Charlotte briefly tied the score at 2-2 behind a solo home run from Junior Perez, but Buffalo responded with a surge of runs to pull away. In the other contest, the Birmingham Barons fell 4-1 to the Knoxville Smokies. Birmingham's offense remained quiet for most of the evening, failing to capitalize on a bases-loaded opportunity in the fifth inning. Juan Carela provided five innings of one-run ball for the Barons, but the bullpen yielded additional runs late as the Smokies clinched the win. The Barons attempted a rally in the bottom of the ninth, scoring a single run before the final out ended the game.
