Chauncey Gooden plays both sides for Colorado in victory over Georgia Tech

Colorado interior lineman Chauncey Gooden played on both sides of the ball during the team's 14-13 season-opening victory against Georgia Tech on September 5, 2026. The 6-foot-3, 380-pound player started on the offensive line and recorded one tackle during his eight snaps on defense. Gooden, a graduate of Lipscomb Academy, was the only interior lineman in the FBS to play both ways during the first week of the season. Coach Deion Sanders confirmed during his September 8 news conference that Gooden earned the expanded role. Sanders previously coached Travis Hunter, who earned the Heisman Trophy in 2024 while contributing on both offense and defense for the Buffaloes.
