Chelsea contacts Georginio Wijnaldum as Premier League transfer activity concludes

Chelsea have initiated contact with 35-year-old midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum regarding a potential free transfer following his departure from Al-Ettifaq. The club had previously attempted to secure Everton midfielder James Garner with a £65m bid, but the offer was rejected as it arrived too late in the window. Meanwhile, Tottenham forward Richarlison has agreed to terms with the Turkish club Trabzonspor. Arsenal pursued Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez, though the Italian side declined to enter negotiations. Looking ahead to the January window, Arsenal are considering a move for Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi, while Newcastle and Aston Villa remain interested in Bayer Leverkusen forward Christian Kofane. Despite late-window frustration, Everton officials have stated they will not pursue further signings from the free-agent market.
