Chicago Bears add running back Zavier Scott to roster

The Chicago Bears are expected to sign running back Zavier Scott after he cleared roster cuts from the Minnesota Vikings. Although the Vikings reportedly hoped to retain Scott on their practice squad, the veteran runner is now set to join a Chicago backfield already featuring D’Andre Swift, Roschon Johnson, and Kyle Monangai. Scott, 27, previously played for the Colts and Vikings and brings experience as a receiver out of the backfield. The Minnesota coaching staff opted to keep rookie Demond Claiborne on the active roster instead of Scott, citing Claiborne’s speed and potential as a return specialist. Scott is expected to provide depth for the Bears under offensive play-caller Ben Johnson. He will face his former team when the Bears host the Vikings in a Week 2 game at Soldier Field.
