Chicago Sky owner Michael Alter disputes Enes Kanter Freedom lawsuit

Chicago Sky owner Michael Alter labeled a federal lawsuit filed by Enes Kanter Freedom against the franchise as meritless. The legal action follows the ejection of Enes Kanter Freedom from Wintrust Arena during an August 23 game. While Enes Kanter Freedom alleges the removal was a violation of his First Amendment rights related to his apparel, Alter maintains the action was taken due to a violation of the fan code of conduct. According to the team, security intervened only after a courtside confrontation between Enes Kanter Freedom and Natasha Cloud involved the fan rising from his seat and stepping toward the court. Enes Kanter Freedom is seeking damages and the lifting of an indefinite arena ban. The WNBA has previously stated he is ineligible for the league draft as part of his ongoing campaign regarding transgender participation in women's sports.
