Chicago White Sox and Yankees series treated like playoffs amid rain concerns

The Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees began a four-game series on Tuesday, July 28, following recent storms in Chicago that caused significant flooding. Head groundskeeper Roger Bossard led efforts to remove over 480,000 gallons of water to prepare the field, minimizing only a 20-minute delay to the game. With the MLB trade deadline approaching, the White Sox are weighing their options for roster improvements, particularly addressing pitching and catching needs. Players expressed a playoff mindset, acknowledging the importance of this series against a potential postseason opponent. The White Sox hope to improve their standing in the league with a strong showing this week.
