Christian Pulisic remains on AC Milan bench as coach manages injury recovery

AC Milan forward Christian Pulisic has not played during the 2026-27 campaign despite appearing on the team bench for three matches. Head coach Ruben Amorim stated he is currently managing the player's minutes following a bone bruise and microfracture sustained in the tibia and fibula during the World Cup. Pulisic returned to training in mid-August but has been held out of the lineup, with 19-year-old Alphadjo Cisse currently filling his position. Cisse has recorded two goals in three appearances, including a score in Sunday's 1-1 draw against Juventus. AC Milan secured one point in that match after a late stoppage-time goal from Federico Gatti forced a draw. Pulisic, who struggled with injuries during the World Cup, is looking to return to form after a scoreless second half of the 2025-26 season. AC Milan plays Lazio on September 12 before opening the Europa League against Benfica on September 16.
