Claudio Castagnoli accepts challenge from Shingo Takagi for NJPW Destruction

AEW wrestler Claudio Castagnoli has officially accepted a challenge to face Shingo Takagi in a singles match. The bout is scheduled to take place on September 27 at NJPW Destruction in Kobe. Takagi issued the challenge following his performance in the G1 Climax tournament, where he cited a previous loss to Castagnoli on AEW Collision as the catalyst for his competitive struggles. This event will mark the first time the two wrestlers have faced each other in a one-on-one contest. Their previous in-ring history includes a six-way match in 2006 and a trios match on AEW Dynamite in 2024. Castagnoli released a video response through New Japan Pro Wrestling confirming his attendance for the Kobe show.
