Clemson freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds makes debut against LSU

Clemson freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds made his collegiate debut during the September 5 season opener against LSU in Baton Rouge. Reynolds entered the game with 1:10 remaining in the second quarter as Clemson trailed 31-3. The freshman replaced starter Christopher Vizzina, who completed 6 of 11 passes for 51 yards and an interception. Prior to his first appearance, Reynolds competed with Vizzina for the starting job throughout the offseason. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney cited Vizzina's consistency as the deciding factor for the starting position, though he indicated that Reynolds would likely receive playing time. A high-school standout from Arizona, Reynolds was sidelined for his entire senior season due to a hamstring injury.
