Corning, Horseheads and Thomas A. Edison secure wins in week 2

Corning, Horseheads and Thomas A. Edison recorded victories during the second week of the high school football season in the Elmira-Corning region. Corning evened its record at 1-1 by moving past Utica Proctor with a 36-14 result behind 384 rushing yards. Horseheads moved to 2-0 following a 49-16 victory at Binghamton, led by Aiden Culshaw’s three rushing touchdowns. Thomas A. Edison also improved to 2-0 after a 30-26 road win against Moravia, highlighted by two fourth-quarter touchdowns from Paxton Hoover. Elsewhere, Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour recorded a 56-7 win over Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville, while Unatego/Franklin/Unadilla Valley defeated Elmira Notre Dame 51-7. Several teams look ahead to next weekend, with Horseheads preparing to host Union-Endicott on September 18 and Corning scheduled to host Binghamton on the same date.
