Corona del Mar edges La Serna in thrilling 30-24 football matchup

On Thursday night at Davidson Field in Newport Beach, Corona del Mar High School defeated La Serna High School 30-24 in a closely contested game featuring four lead changes in the second half. Grady Long of La Serna passed for 347 yards and two touchdowns, while JD Annett of Corona del Mar had 289 passing yards and two touchdowns, in addition to two rushing touchdowns. The game concluded dramatically as La Serna was unable to complete a potential game-winning drive due to a fourth down stop, despite the officials adding time to the clock for a final play. Both teams entered the game with perfect records at 4-0.
