Dakota Valley softball team and golfer honored after state championship wins

Dakota Valley Athletics celebrated a successful week with state titles for both the Panthers softball team and golfer Katie Betsworth. The softball team, after entering the Class A tournament as the third seed, achieved their first state championship by defeating Elk Point-Jefferson 9-6. Betsworth, who won the SDHSAA girls’ Class A state championship, participated in a community ceremony at the baseball and softball complex. She secured her victory with a walk-off putt, finishing two over par. The ceremony acknowledged the significant achievements of both the team and athletes in front of the local community.
