Dallas Cowboys release wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling

The Dallas Cowboys released veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling on August 30, 2026. Valdes-Scantling signed a one-year contract with the team this past April. The 31-year-old receiver spent last season with both the San Francisco 49ers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he recorded a combined 14 catches for 120 yards and one touchdown. Dallas opted to part ways with the veteran due to depth at the position. The team currently lists CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and Ryan Flournoy as its starting wide receivers. Additional players competing for spots include KaVontae Turpin, Camden Brown, and Jonathan Mingo. Valdes-Scantling, a 2018 fifth-round draft pick, has tallied 219 career receptions for 3,686 yards and 21 touchdowns.
