Dan Lanning and Pat McAfee secure charity funds on College Gameday

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning participated in a challenge hosted by Pat McAfee during a September 12, 2026, appearance on College Gameday at Boone Pickens Stadium. McAfee offered to donate $500,000 to a charity of Lanning’s choice if the coach successfully hit the crossbar with a pass from the 15-yard line. After an initial miss from 10 yards, Lanning connected on his second attempt to trigger the contribution. The funds are designated for the Sam Day Foundation, which supports childhood cancer research. Lanning also contributed an additional $50,000 of his own money to the organization. The event took place shortly before Oregon’s scheduled game against Oklahoma State.
